1. Fair Use Curation Statement

LATEST is a curated design reference platform that collects, organizes, and presents links to third-party creative work for purposes of commentary, criticism, and education in the fields of design, visual culture, and creative practice.

Thumbnail images and screenshots displayed on LATEST are used under fair use principles (17 U.S.C. § 107) to identify, reference, and facilitate discussion of the original works. Each reference on LATEST links directly to its original source, driving traffic to the original creators and publishers.

LATEST does not host, reproduce, or distribute the full original works. The thumbnails and screenshots used are low-resolution representations intended solely to identify the referenced content, similar to search engine image previews or editorial reviews.

2. Attribution

LATEST is committed to proper attribution of all referenced work:

• Every reference includes a direct link to the original source website or publication
• Artist names are displayed when available (particularly for museum and gallery works)
• Source domains are visible on hover and in detail views, clearly identifying the origin of each reference
• We do not claim ownership of any third-party creative work displayed on the platform

3. DMCA Takedown Process

If you are a content owner or authorized representative and believe that your work is displayed on LATEST without proper authorization, you may submit a takedown request. We respect the rights of content creators and will respond promptly to valid requests.

To submit a takedown request, please email us at hello@civilian.design with the following information:

• Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is being infringed
• The URL(s) on LATEST where the allegedly infringing content appears
• Your contact information (name, email, phone number)
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
• Your physical or electronic signature

We will review and respond to valid takedown requests within 5 business days. Upon receipt of a valid request, we will remove the referenced content from the platform.

4. Our Content

The curation, selection, arrangement, editorial commentary, and AI-generated creative direction produced by LATEST are the intellectual property of civilian.design. The LATEST name, brand identity, interface design, and underlying technology are proprietary.

The CLIP-based similarity analysis, visual tagging system, quality scoring methodology, and creative direction generation are original works of civilian.design.
